We were very pleased with the incredible response to the Jung Center Screening on July 31st. The film played to a packed house and a lively and insightful discussion followed with a panel made of both film participants and directors.

Jung Center Houston Screening Announced

The Unbreakable Threads team is very excited about our upcoming screening at the Jung Center in the heart of the Museum District in Houston on July 31st from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with creator and filmmaker Stacey Summers, co-director Stig Daniels, and a panel of participants featured in the film.

The Jung Center is located at 5200 Montrose Blvd. directly across from the Cullen Sculpture Garden of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH).

Lone Star College Screening

There will be a screening at Lone Star College tonight at 7:00 PM in north Houston. Here are the details and directions, please feel free to join us if you can!

Exit Northbound Highway 59 at Kingwood Drive – turn LEFT
At Stop Sign (Kingwood Place BLVD) – turn RIGHT
Pass the first left (East entrance to campus) proceed to second left (Royston)
First left off of Royston is North entrance to campus – when you turn in, you are facing the PAC
You can park to right or left (left parking lot is bigger) – all spaces will be open that time of night

When you enter the PAC the MAIN STAGE entrance is next to the elevator to the second floor
The elevator is right in the middle of the great space filled with flag – hard to miss!

Unbreakable Threads Educational Screening

Unbreakable Threads had it’s first educational screening at the University of Houston on February 13, 2014 in the new University Center Theatre. The screening was well received and Houston Mayor Annise Parker stopped by and spoke to the audience for a few minutes.

A panel discussion followed the screening with participants including several parents of children featured in the film as well as noted attorney Mitch Katine, and producer/director Stacey Summers, and director/editor Stig Daniels.

We look forward to more screenings like this in the future.

Zach Wahls To Give Speech At Democratic Convention

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Zach Wahls, an Iowa man with two mothers, was vaulted to Internet stardom in early 2011 with a moving plea to his state legislature on behalf of marriage equality. On Thursday, Wahls will take the stage here at the Democratic National Convention, according to two people familiar with the speaking schedule.

Wahls, then 19, argued that his family was no different than any other Iowan’s and should be treated no differently by the law. His speech went viral, garnering millions of views online and turning him into an overnight hero of the gay rights movement. He has since written a memoir, titled “My Two Moms.”
